My friend and former Florida State Senator John Grant is a well known political figure in Tampa.
First elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1980 and then to the Florida Senate in 1986, he has served with six Florida Governors through twenty-one years as a member of the Florida legislature, where he chaired seven standing and numerous select committees. He has also served on the faculties of The University of Tampa, Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida - teaching law, government and politics. Over the years, he has received many legislative awards and has been selected as "Legislator of the Year" by numerous organizations. He has worked in state and local government in city management and was appointed to a position in the US Department of Education by the late, great President of The United States, Ronald Reagan.
This picture was taken in front of my old Lutz office a few years ago when we were hunting down some investment property. Senator Grant is a Deacon at my church (Idlewild Baptist Church) in Tampa and is a well respected member of the community. I'm proud to call him my friend.
